Details

Greet children participating in the Super Kids Fun Run. Gather the children into groups according to their ages to form a group for each one of the races. Take the children to the starting line when it's there turn to run. Monitor the children as they run around the circular course for safety and cheer them on as they go around the course.

Greet children participating in the Super Kids Fun Run. Observe the race finishes and Identify the winners - one girl and one boy from each group to receive top honors. Lead winners to area where awards will be given out.

Process registrations for the Super Kids Fun Run and pass out t-shirts and goody bags to those who register and those who are pre-registered and are picking up early for Friday's events.

Course Monitor High Priority

Details

Course Monitors will meet early - 6:15 a.m. at Union Point Park. Each volunteer will receive a volunteer T-shirts and an Orange Safety Vest. Monitors will then board a bus to be taken around the course and dropped off at various turning points. Monitors will call attention to turn signs and prompt runners to make the appropriate turns to stay on course. Monitors should bring a cell phone to report any injury or emergency to 911. We use the buddy system and place two course moniters at each location. Dress in layers / appropriate to the weather as monitors are out on the course for a few hours. The bus will come back around as the races finish and bring Monitors back to Union Point Park.

Under the direction of the YMCA team - set-up the course with signage and markers, and set-up water stations throughout the course.

Cheerleaders Medium Priority

Details

Cheer our runners from the start and/or as they finish the race. We suggest bringing pompoms and noise makers. You are welcome to sign up for both shifts if you would like to cheer at the start lines and finish lines. For the start

Check in at the volunteer tabel inside the convention center to pickup your T-shirt, then head over to the area near the race-start. Cheerleaders can line-up along the both side of the road near the base of the Cunningham Bridge that goes over the Trent River. there are three start times to be aware of:
1/2 Marathon start: 7:00 a.m.
10K start: 7:30 a.m.
5K start: 8:15 a.m.

Cheerleaders for the finish will line-up on both sides of South Front Street near the Harvey Mansion to cheer our runners on at the finish line.

Volunteers for this task MUST BE AGE 21 or over.
The task is to check for a wrist band on each person who comes to the beer table with a ticket. If yes you can exchange a ticket for a beer. No more than two beers are to be distributed to an individual at a time. We will do a short training session with volunteers who sign-up for this task.

The task is to check picture identification to confirm if the person is a minimum of 21 years of age. If so you can put a wrist band on them that will allow them to use beer tickets at the beer table. We will do a short training session with volunteers who sign-up for this task.
